2006 mazda tribute tach wire

Hi, From the posts here it looks like the tach wire is at the FIREWALL ECM, pink/white. I'm assuming they mean in the engine bay, but I probed this wire, but it goes to 12V when accessory is kicked and never changes.. I don't think this is the tach wire. Is the tach wire on the INSIDE? At anyrate, Can I get it off the injectors? Thanks -Roger

Any wire thats not red @ ignition coiltriniforever

I also probed a wire that wasn't red at one of the injectors but again, that went straight to 12V during acc. and never changed.. Forgive me, I am an audio guy, so if its not a battery or alternator I'm a little lost in the engine bay.. Where is the ignition coil?

Use the not red at a coil and you will be fine.Mike M2

an ignition coil is the black cap that covers the spark plug in the engine. There will be 4 coils for a 4 cyl, 6 for a 6 cyl, and 8 for an 8 cyl. It usually has about 2 or 3 wires in a plug on the top. On all the coils there will be a common color wire (red), the other wire(s) is the one you want to use.Scott Gillis

Thanks, I was at the injectors.. I see exactly what you mean now..

Even though it's correct and proper to test all of your wires, the ermote starter's tachometer wire is only an inpout....it (shouldn't) ever output anything to the car at all. So, in that case, if you're not sure, you could just make a quick temporary connection (don't even bother taping it up), and try to program tach to the remote starter. If you can successfully program tach, and then the remote starter works, you're fine. If it doesn't work, try another wire.
