Can anyone tell me which wire is the tach wire on a 1996 sunfire gt??  I know it is supposed to be a PURPLE / white wire found in the engine harness, but i cant really tell which wire is PURPLE / white.  Also I have found two PURPLE / white wires that may go to the engine harness.  One is located in a plug on the IDI cover the other is in a small plug thing next to the IDI cover.

The engine harness is found next to the battery, below the radiator hose, just above the transaxle.  Use white or orange on the 2.2L motor, and PURPLE / white on the 2.4L motor.

Test the wire first. The reason why the PURPLE / WHITE wire may not be an option is because the signal from it is not great and will either run your starter or only allow the starter to crank .5 seconds.

If the PURPLE / WHITE wire doesn't work properly then use one of the injector wires ( uncommon colored ) and relearn the tach on the RS again.
