Trying to wrap up install on my Expedition. Installed a relay for dome light supervision. Tried it neg. before I knew better and blew the dome light fuse. Changed the relay wiring to:
85-BLACK/ white from Python,
86-12volt,
87-same 12volt,
30- BLACK/ lt blue dome light wire.
It worked a couple of times then stopped. Fuse okay. Dome light comes on when door opens just not with remote.
Do I have the relay wrong? Something else?
Thanks,
Scott

try applying ground to post 85 on the relay and see if the light turns on or if the relay clicks if it does then theres a problem with the output or bad connection.  if it doesn't then theres a power issue with the relay or bad relay.  that should help you get the problem resolved.

thanks for the suggestion, I'm going to try that now. Is it okay to use the same 12 volt source for poles 86 and 87?

Yes and fused I hope.

Ideal - cmon dude, add to topics in a useful manner, not stuff that is obvious.
Story - Phzzzt! Hey, what happened?! ... Isn't it obvious?
Moral - Never dismiss the obvious.

Yeah, they're fused. Thanks for the help. I tried the ground on the relay and the light came on. Checked my connections (all soldered and taped), all good. I disconnected negative battery cable, unplugged harness from RS brain and... dome light works fine. Just needed to reset the brain I guess.

I noticed you were installing the same python as I am, on a different vehicle then I am but I was hoping you could answer some of the questions I had.  Can you check this post and see. I would appreciate any help.  Thanks.

checked your post...
1. Didn't use the blue wire
2. Didn't use the WHITE/ blue wire
3. the 1400xp DOES have anti-grind. I would definitely use this.
4. sorry, I don't have a factory alarm so I can't help you there.
Hope this helps.
