How many leads = How many wires are going to the halo part of the light?

I would start out by checking the voltage on the four wires - my first assumption would be there is one ground and three signal wires.  By changing the combination of power / no power on the three non ground wires you would have 7 possible colors and an "off"

0 0 0 G "off" and ground

0 0 1 G color 1and ground

0 1 0 G color 2 and ground

0 1 1 G color 3 and ground

1 0 0 G color 4 and ground

1 0 1 G color 5 and ground

1 1 0 G color 6 and ground

1 1 1 G color 7 and ground

I would start there and see what happens.

Or it could be the other way around 1 anode (+) and 3 cathodes (-). So like Kevin says, you have to try out the different combinations.
