so i have installed a orion h2 12.4 in a prefabed slot port running off a hcca 2400 at 2ohms so its getting roughly 800 watts. i have also installed a ht 10.4 running off a hcca 1200 at 2 ohms roughly getting 600 watts in a prefabbed sealed. now bouth these subs are rated for 2000 rms. the twelve off a hi-lo and the 10 running off  a clarion. the problem is they both sound crappy. now what i need some advice on is, it the enclosure or the amps. i cant figure it out. ive read review after review and heard more great than bad and ive watched video after video and seen what these subs can do. now can anyone give me some advice on why these things arnt shown me what they can do

the problem is in mixing sub size along with the pre fab boxes. I am almost 1000% sure you are getting cancelation combined with crappy pre-fabs and mixed sub size. Running 2 different size subs is like throwing 3 different size wheels on a car. It just doesnt work well.

I disagree with this COMPLETELY. At any wavelength LONGER than the diaphragm's diameter, you can put as many disparate size drivers as you want in your car... The error in judgement come from running them in different enclosure types, resulting in different tunings. If they were both in sealed enclosures, you would likely not be having any issues at all. Diferent size drivers do NOT work in vented enclosures though.
If you are bent on using two different drivers, put them both in sealed enclosures, or run two idential drivers in equally tuned vented enclosures... Don't mix enclosure orders like you have done.
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

i agree halfway with both j.reed and haemphyst, lol. your prefab boxes are probably most of the problem but im a little confused with your post are these setups in two separate cars or in the same car? if they are in the same car, it would be best to keep your subs all the same and not mix and match different sizes. but to basically answer your question, it's more than likely the prefab boxes you have them in and not what you have powering them. power is only a small part of the SPL equation. a propper box will give you way more output than just throwing a million watts at any given sub

I would say it is the enclosures. The amp's and the subs should sound ok, if the enclosures have the correct air space, and tuning for the subs. Also, how do you have the gain, frequency, etc. set on the amps. Orion is not the company it used to be, but they still make decent stuff that sounds ok in the correct setup.

i have an hcca 12.2 in a prefab slot ported box and it sounds descent. i honestly think you just need more power on the 12. i started with a kicker zx1500 but it wasnt stable at 1 ohm so i had to go 4 ohm (750 watts) and it sounded like crap, so then i got a rockford t20001bd and wired to 1 ohm (2000 watts). it was a lot better but i still wasnt happy, now ive got an orion d5000 at 1 ohm (2500 rms) it hits pretty hard now but i still know it could sound so much better in a custom box.
