You can run a set of wires into your box, and then parallel a second woofer in the same enclosure by connecting it's wire to the extra set of connections.  It just makes for a neater install.  It really isn't any new technology.

so if im only running one sub in a single box, does it matter which red and which black terminal i use? like say, should i run the wires to the far left and the far right (orange)? or should i run them to the right black and then the right red (pink)?

-thanks again whats the deal? 4 terminals on sub -- posted image.

It does not matter.  Each of the 2 left terminals are connected to the voice coil's positive connection.  Each of the 2 right terminals are connected to the negative connection.    You decide, inside screws, outside screws, left set of screws, right set of screws, one left and one right screw.  It really makes no difference to the woofer.
