Hi all, been a while since I have been on here.
I am now dealing with deciding if it is time to upgrade or just get a new remote. I have been reading reviews on Viper remote replacement 479V. Apparently, they have a tendency of failing after a year.
As much as I wouldn't mind buying a new remote off of Ebay for $70, I don't know if I would be willing to do so every year.
I need this communities take on the Viper 5701, is it worth the $200 it cost to get (I can do the install myself)? Or, should I wait for the Viper 5901 to go down in price?

I would wait until the 5701 is a more reliable unit. Currently the remotes for the 5701 randomly lose programming and eat up batteries for no reason. Until they fix this, I would stay away from the 5701.

and I thought the 5701 suppose to be "better" then all previous systems from Directed, or at least that was the press release I read a while back when it first came out.
I guess my choice has come clear, buy the replacement remote and wait till the new system comes down in price.
