wait, what? you are talking apples and oranges. the 85 and 86 pin connect to the coil which when energized causes a switch to move inside the relay. the 87 and 87a pins are part of the actual switch that moves. even on a SPDT relay you would not be using the 87a normally closed pin. so it doesn't make a difference, in your situation, if you choose to go with a SPST relay. you are simply using your remote wire to activate a switch that will be able to send more current to your devices.
