After installing a viper 5901 in my 1999 mitsubishi eclipse i've come to realize that my locks don't work with the alarm. I believe i have negative trigger door locks that are 12v at rest. when i hook up the wires from the alarm the doors lock right away. The unlock wire seems to send a negative trigger all the time and keeps the doors unlocked and there is no way to lock them while the wires are hooked up The lock wire does not seem to do anything when i arm or unarm the system. the unlock wire sends a small negative voltage when i unarm which seems normal but the doors are already locked and it does nothing. im confused as to what is going on. any help?

by the sounds of it you either have a bad brain that sends out a negative voltage all the time

or you need a stronger ground in which case you need relays

the wires that you need are brown and BROWN / white negative trigger

Try diodes on the lock unlock wires with their bands towards the alarm, it's a quick fix sometimes and I notice that DEI belatedly tell you to install them on these units, only 4 years after we found the problem!  Another more expensive cure would be to shove a 451m into the mix.
