2002 ford f150 remote start

Hello i got a 02 f150 that iam working on and it has a nustart installed in it. I can use the fob to unlock and lock the doors but when i use the start button on the fob the cluster blinks 3 times than blinks 6 times. the hood switch i on a straight ground connection, so i thinks that the hood is always closed. if i use the keys the truck will start fine. please help me

im not familiar with that unit. have you programed the tach signal? and is the neutral safety wire grounded?

You mean that you grounded the negative hood input wire permanently? If this is the case the remote start thinks the hood is always open, which means it will never start.
Installer, IT support, and FFL. I need less hobbies.

Makes me wonder if they ever wanted the remote start to work at all....I would also make sure it has a connection to the brake wire. If it's never had a tach signal learned,or if doesn't have a default tachless mode....you can end up with some starter grind when you try to remote start. If this is the case, you can simply hit the brake to shut the unit down......just a thought.
