vrx785bt no sound except tuner

So i just installed my new head unit today and soon realized that i had no sound on DVD/CD, ipod, or bluetooth settings but plays the tuner fine. It will read the the disks and show that the ipod id playing but no sound! The wierd thing is that if you are playing to tuner and switch to CD/DVD it will play fo about two seconds and then no sound. This is my first insallation of an in-dash receiver and was told that if you just ground the "e brake" wire that it will override the system. I am obviously very unframiliar with this ebrake wire thing and was hoping for some adivce. Do you think that it could have something to do with this not being propertly hooked up. Any help would be greatly appriciated!

what you probably did was hook up the antena turn on lead(usually solid blue wire) to your amp turn on(to the car amplifier).    the wire you should hook up instead is the blue wire with a white tracer(most common color).    im almost 100% sure that will solve your problem.    about grouding the e-brake wire, that usualy has to do with just video not sound.
