hey guys. I have a 04 chevy silverado and i currently have 2 12 kicker cvx run by a fosgate 1500db. my question is i use to have a old pioneer hu hooked up and it banged but i recently picked a new jensen hu vm9512 and the bass it produces seems pretty weak. i dont know what it is.. do i get a equalizer? what do you think of the deck?

i can't be sure what the problem might be with out actualy looking at your installation and equipment, but i can offer two common scenarios  1.  you some how wired your system out of phase when installing the new HU.  2. not all HU pre-amp out puts are equal some offer lets say 4mv while others offer 8mv, might be that you got a *newer* HU but not necessarilly a better one.

thats an idea but all i did was put the hu in. i didnt mess with much wires that i could of crossed. im thinkin the eq in the deck is lame and cheap and i think i need an external eq to get the sound im looking for. am i thinking this right?

Have you tried turning the gain up on the amplifier?  As stated earlier, you may have removed a 4V preout unit and replaced it with a 2V unit.  If that is the case you will need to turn the gain up on the amp to compensate for the lower output of the deck.

yeah your correct it only has one preout for the sub. i connected the y and it did make a diffrence but on this deck its not really bass friendly. theres no bassboost or loudness function at all.. it has a 7 band eq built in but the lowest it goes is 80hz and it sounds really boomy when i adjust it. thats why im leaning towards an eq. anyone object to this? haha i appreciate the feedback guys keep the ideas coming
