What is the programming instruction for the factory remotes?

Also if I install a remote start system, are the factory remotes needed for anything during the install... either going to buy new factory remotes or do a remote start.... vehicle did not come with any.

What would be the best remote start to get for this car 2004 Dodge Stratus Coupe

Thanks, Ernie

These are instructions for an 03, it should be the same.

1: Find your obd port(should be under your dash) and insert your key into the ignition but leave it in the off position.

2: The obd port is a wedge shape, the wider end is up with the left top being pin 1 and the number goes up from left to right then jumps down the the bottom row from there, get a peice of wire strip the ends and put it in pin 1 and the other end in pin 4.
3. Within 10 seconds of putting the wire in place press your hazard light button 6 times **you'll get a lock/unlock sequence to let u know you did it right and you are now in programming mode**
4. Now press the lock button on your keyfob 3 times **you'll get a lock/unlock to acknowledge you programmed this remote**
5. You can program up to 5 remotes by repeating step 4 over.
6. To exit programming mode remove the key from your ignition.
If you install an aftermarket system, you will not need the factory fob for anything.

Although you won't need the factory remote at all if you put in an aftermarket system, don't forget that your car almost definitely has Mitsubishi's immobilizer key system.
Do you have extra keys for the car?
