I have a 998T w/ v2.3 chip and I want to upgrade the chip, if possible, to read and write the latest alarm/RS units.
Some literature says that I need to know my unit if it's OK CODE 6/A or 6/B. how do I know? I opened the bitwriter up and can not find it. I don't have any stickers on the bitwriter, btw. It also say that 6/B only required the small chip(eeprom) to be replace, whereas 6/A needs a upgrade kit.
And supposedly upgraded bitwriter have 4 pin plug or something?

I just got the v2.6, the most updated, chip. The bitwriter ON-screen shows that I have v2.6 but I can not read the new latest generation DEI RS/alarm.
-When trying to read, it would get stuck on "trying to read." I am not sure if I need to wait much longer than 30sec to read the brains.
I was able to read the previous generation of DEI rs/alarm brains w/ the v2.6.
Not sure what I did wrong. Are there new procedures that I have to go through to read it?

when you updated the data chip did you update the CPU as well?   you have to upgrade the Bitwriter microprocessor when updating to anything V2.5 or higher.....

there's a ROM processor that needs to be replaced, and I am ordering it. I didnt know which date code I had, so I only bought the firmware chip.
spoke to the seller again and verified some stuff. I had a model that required to upgrade both chip. below should help clarify some stuff if yall run into it like I did.
