Turned on my 2003 F-150 HD and my CDA-7897 opened with a bland display. Found the remote worked however the front panel buttons had zero effect. I went through the reset procedure with no avail. Wondering if anyone else has experienced the same problem. The unit is 2 months old and yes under warranty. Concerned if this will be an on going issue. Any thoughts or suggestions about the problem or dealing with Alpine and warranty issues. Thanks

Did you install the deck or did the shop that you got it from do the installation ? Alpine HU requires a direct lead to the battery ( as per instructions ). I would see if the battery lead for the HU is coming from the harness in the back or if it was routed to the ignition wires or the battery.

The deck was installed by my local dealer. There is a piece of 12 Awg going to an aftermarket fuse at the battery. They used the correct Metra harness and all the crimps look fine.

Is the 12 gauge for the stereo or for other audio equipment ? Just double check that it's going to the HU and not to something else.
