2000 chevy s 10 ls 2.2l automatic

Alright. I have the vehicle listed in the title. And I bought this vehicle, and the cruise control doesn't work. I am not even 100% convinced that this vehicle had cruise control to begin with. BUT, I have a cruise control option on my steering wheel switches, including set, accelerate, and the normal cruise operations. But none of these do anything aside from a clicking sound under the hood when i turn it on. It makes one slight click sound every time it is switched on. The cruise indicator light does not come on on my dash panel either. I do have the fuses for cruise, and they are in fine shape. But I need to know what to do to check my cruise control out to get it working again. If you could give me some trouble-shooting tips, I would appreciate it. Or if anyone knows for a fact that this vehicle doesn't have cruise...let me know. Thanks in advance guys =)Raggedy....Thats my stuff.

If the vehicle has factory cruise you will see the option code K34 listed on the sticker in the truck. This sticker is white and gray and is usually found in the glove box or on a door. I doubt that the cruise is a factory item though as GM cruises for that truck have the switches in the turn signal lever. Identifing the make of the cruise is critical. Look at the throttle on the engine. You should see 2 cables coming from it. One will go through the firewall and connect to the gas pedal. The other will connect to the cruise control. The cruise may be a vacuum style or it may be electronic. See if you can describe it. Also check what color wires go into the unit. Check that all your brake light bulbs work too, as if any are burnt out, your cruise may not work.sparky

well, i am fairly sure that the cruise control is stock...The cruise switches are all on the turn signal lever like you said. Everything is located on the same lever, The bright lights option, the turn signals, windshield wipers and squirters, and cruise options. Everything else works great aside from the cruise. I am inside for the night, but I will have a look at the throttle tomorrow and let you know. Thanks for the help =)Raggedy....Thats my stuff.

Ok, I have looked at the throttle cable, and there are 2. I found the actuator, and it made a clicking sound, even when the truck was at idle. So i took it apart, it had a small motor inside and a belt that is supposed to tighten the throttle cable to set the cruise i suppose. the clicking sound is the motor trying to turn. It trys to release the cruise cable every time it is clicked on, but it will not tighten the cable to set it at all. So i am assuming it is this actuator box that is the problem. I am going to find another one and try that i suppose. Any ideas on this let me know.Raggedy....Thats my stuff.
