ok heres the story   my uncle has 2 sebrings one convertable and one 4 door sedan the problem is the sedans radio has a high pitch whine to it      he tried swapping the radios between the 2 cars and when you first put the radio in the sedan and turn the key to the acc position the noise isnt there then when you start it the whine starts and if you shut the car off and go back to acc the whine is there    anybody heard of this ??   P.S. both radios work ok in the convertable    THANKS IN ADVANCE

Sounds like a grounding issue. Is the whine there even if the vehicle is off ?

im assuming you mean with the engine off and yes after the first time you start the car and shut it off and use acc position the whine is there     ground issue ?    any ideas on where to start ?

Have you tried adjusting the brightness of the dash lights?

Some vehicles have a power supply for the dash lights.  The dimming of the lights changes the duty cycle of the power supply.

What year Sebrings are we talking about here ? If they are newer ones, just bring them back for warranty.

both cars are 2004 so no warrantys   ill have him try the dimmer idea see if that helps     is there noise surpressors inside the radio that could be bad ?    just weird how it only does it in the sedan not the convertable with either radio

it sounds like the factory amp might be the problem alot of chryslers comes with amp behind the glove box i had an isue  with the amp it would kill the batt  if they're equiped with jbl sounds system it has an amp

he replaced the amp with one from the junk yard   same problem
