sq system

I have a 2002 Impala that i want to build an sq system in and am looking for a few recommendationz as to what setup to go with. Option 1: use only factory speaker locationz with good quality aftermarket speakerz or Option 2: use existing factory speaker locationz and add 6.5 component speakerz to the rear doorz or Option 3: use front door speaker location, add 6.5 component speakerz to the rear doorz and instead of using 6 x 9 for the rear deck use a different size speaker(not sure which size yet)? Thatz all I have for right now but any all recommendationz are welcomed and appreciated!cedric

if you want SQ like you say DO NOT use more than one set of speakers. use one set in the front ONLY and no others. scrap the idea right now of putting any speakers in the rear deck or rear doors if you really want to have an SQ system.

Recommendation one: End your wordz with "s", instead of "z". It's annoying, and this ain't your cell phone; you have ALL the space you could ever want or need to type questions and/or answers. Recommendation two: Tell us how much you want to spend, whether you want amplification or not, what head unit you have, and ONE SET OF HIGH QUALITY speakers.It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

i think he wants the kind of sound quality you can only get with a deck full of super tweeters and a bull horn under the hood. if you want sound quality as we know it, then you need a good set of components up front with a good amp for them, and if you feel like you need more, then you can think about spending any kind of money for the rear. you wouldn't go to a concert and listen to the whole thing with your back turned to the stage would you? its the same concept, you want most of the sound coming from the front. when it comes to sound quality, usually less is more. the less speakers you have behind you in the car the better. you are going to want most of the sound(highs) coming from in front of you. if you want to do rear speakers then you should try to match the specs of the front speakers as close as possible and keep the volume level from the rear less than the front.

use existing locations.. trust me you will never get a perfect placement like you can do in the house to get the SQ.. don't waste time.. get the best quality warm sounding speakers with a nice JL audio amp and good eclipse HD and you are good to go. My fault with the Z's...bad habit....im not rich but i do believe that you get what you pay for so im willing to spend a pretty penny. Yes i want the whole system to be amplified. Im looking at using the pioneer z2/z3 double din tv as a head unit and one brand of speakers im looking at is Infinity kappa series. No i dont want a bunch loud tweeters and bullhorns in the grille(never did like that) but i want a quality system that i can actually compete and win with.cedric

It's going to be difficult at best with off-the-shelf stuff... Let ALONE with Infinity Kappas. Good, but hardly competition grabbing... There's not much out there that has detail and resolution like that in a pre-built package, until you get into REALLY high-dollar stuff. You said you were willing to spend "a pretty penny". Well, you better plan on about 100,000 of those pretty pennies, and possibly more with good to better signal processing and amplification. I have thousands of dollars ($1600 in the two, trunk-mount digital processors alone!) hundreds of install hours in my Civic, and LITERALLY years of R&D/design time, and it's never won anything. (In my defense, I've never entered it anywhere...)
