Series is fine.
LOL. i like your laid back approach.
My laid back approach is a perfect match. 8 ohms will have that amplifier making easily 300 to 400 WRMS, which the woofer is perfectly suited to handle.
Don't swap the amplifier, so if you want to later, you can add an additional woofer, and still have the power necessary to drive a pair.
Additionally, the amp running at 8 ohms will run cooler, run more efficiently, run with lower distortion, and last longer. Leave the woofer wired in series, and enjoy. It's a PERFECT combination, just the way you have it.
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

I can't find specs on that alpine at 8ohms...thats all.
If you say it can make 300w RMS I believe you.

What happens when you halve the impedance, meaning go from 4 ohms to 2 ohms? The power comes close to doubling, right? For example: from 600 watts at 4 ohms to 1000 watts at 2 ohms. Well the exact opposite will happen if you double the impedance, from 600 watts at 4 ohms to ABOUT 300 watts (easily) to 400 watts at 8 ohms.
You don't HAVE to see a published spec for a given impedance that is higher than a typical load... Ohm's Law, baby! It'll do all the work FOR you!
