Hello,

I've been looking over examples on your website and they all seem fairly straight forward however none seem to answer what I'm trying to do. I'm confused by the whole relay wiring set up. I'm trying to install power windows in a car that didn't originally come with them and using splined switches to retain the oem look. All the hardware is in and the motors work up and down directly from the battery but not from the switches. I've been told I need to add relays so I bought SPDT relays. I have one for the up motion and another for the down motion for each window. And that's were I'm stalled.

-The motors have two wires that I assume is one for up and the other for down.
-The switches have three poles on top and three on the bottom which I again assume are three for up and the other three for down.
- The relays have five poles and I haven't got a clue which one goes where.

Can you help? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Many thanx.

Regards,
Andy

The diagram was drawn for door locks.  It is the exact thing you need for your windows.

Do the switches look as though they can hadle the current without the relays?   If so the second diagram should help you.

Hello,

I've wired everything exactly as in the diagram and it doesn't work. I thought I would check all connections to be sure they are all good. I noticed as I touched the test light to the 86 pole on relay 1 the window raises and when I touch the 85 pole on relay 2 the window lowers. What have I done wrong??????

It the other end of your test light is grounded, you did nothing wrong.  Connect those 2 terminals to the wires of the switch that are labeled to relays, and  you will be set.

Hello,

Yes the test light is grounded and the wires are connected to the switch as in the diagram however, nothing happens when the switch is used either way only when the test light is touched to the connection on either relay.

Do you have the switch grounded?   You have the relays wired properly, do not change them, you just need to figure out the switch.

Do you have a meter so we can figure out the layout of the switch?

These are the switches I'm trying to use. They are autoloc EWS2 and I hope this link works for you. http://files.thehoffmangroup.com/instructions/EWS.pdf

I must say that's some of the most over complicated wiring I've ever seen! If they only used 5 terminal DAV switches you could discard the relays, even put a 530t on the end and give yorself 1 touch.  Grounding the motor housing?  Didn't Porsche do that 20years ago?
