It could.  It really depends on how much current the device pulls, and the condition of his battery.  Normally one would power such a device off of the reverse wire so it would only be on while backing up.  I have no idea if that will work for his application.

the visor is a constant which is what i need cause when the trailer is hooked up he wants to be able to see behind him when he is driving but would it be better to connect bthe positive to an auxilliary and then ground the negative. ( i have been installing for about 4 years and this was the first time  a 5 amp tv drained a brand new battery)

Yes a switched wire would be what you need.  I know that there is no conventional switched wire in that vehicle.  Maybe someone else will know where you can get such a source.

There is a switched wire at the ignition switch, there is a problem with that wire.  It will not provide enough current to power the monitor.

Or you could use a relay off the ignition switch if the constant 12v is big enough gauge.
85 ground
86 ign wire
87 12volt constant
30 output to mirror backup.

The ignition wire at the switch may not even be able to provide enough current to trigger a relay.  I am sure that there is a suitable wire somewhere, I figured one of the hands on guys would have told us where he can get a switched source.  Or let us know if the pink wire will power a relay.  Or if it is even pink in that vehicle.
