I am wanting to do an alarm to my 2002 Dakota Quad cab. 4.7L, auto, power everything.

Regardless of price, what is the best alarm on the market? (Brand/Model please)

Also, what should you look for in an alarm?

I'm going to give you a sensible answer, not the obvious. Your choice would be based on what you hear from friends, i.e. what's reliable and what isn't, cost, usually cheap = rubbish. Next thing, don't load it with loads of sensors, they will all get in each other's way and trigger false alarms. You will for technical reasons need the folowing. Relay driven lock outputs and double pulse lock and unlock.

Most my friends just have a factory alarm or are to scared to install one and don't have the money to pay someone. it makes sense about the sensors. But if you had to pick an alarm on the market, what brand/model would it be? Curious to your response.

When I bought the Viper 350HV for the sentra I bought it because it was cheap and had decent reviews. (thanks for the tech help on installing it BTW) When i buy the one for truck, i don't want to just buy a cheap one, I want a better one with more options. The nissan was one of those "I have to get something in there soon" deals.

The Viper 350 is their entry level alarm, if satisfied with that why not work up their range? If two way, in practice the LED remotes are more reliable than their LCD remotes.
