I have just installed a CCS100 cruise control in a '94 GMC pickup. New kit, compatible vehicle - refuses to work, even though all the checks seem to show okay. Anyone have any suggestions on what I could check that's not listed in the rather thin troubleshooting part of the accompanying manual? My frustration level is increasing by the minute.

Mine did not turn on until I took the grey wire from the magnet speed sensor and grounded it. I beleive there is a black and grey wire that are supposed to go to the magnetic pickup. For whatever reason I wouldn't work until the grey wire was grounded.

Have you done a complete electrical check with a digital volt/ohm meter? Make sure that the purple wire has less than 10 ohms resistance to ground with the ignition turned OFF. Those old trucks had problems with the brake lights and would prevent the cruise from working. Check your DIP switch settings to make sure they are correct.
