2003 silverado

Ok here is my prob. I work for a stereo shop and do remote starters on the side and I got the smart idea to do a starter for a friend in a 03 chevy. He wanted a astro 4104 2 way so I bought that, a 555L paslock module, and a GMDL4 bypass. The funny part is that when you try to start the truck the tranny shifts hard and won't come out of second (it's a auto by the way). I guess the 4WD don't work anymore ither and he doesn't even use the starter or door locks in it. And another thing... For some reason the door locks only work sometimes.... I have the GMDL4 installed perfect and i even added diodes to the lock inputs and it still does it. Anybody have any ideas for me on any of this?? Please help. Thanks

Looks like you might have missed one of the 3 IGN wires that have to be energized during remote start. One of them is the tranny computer and it gets all mad when it is not powered up during start... Even if powered shortly after. Good luck p.s. Anybody knows if it corrects itself when it gets power correctly during start or does the truck have to be serviced?

From my experience with the Chevy, all you have to do is turn the IGN off and back on again after remote start and the computer resets itself. Shouldn't have any problems thereafter.Jeff

Floater is correct on the ignitions, I moved a starter from my brother in law's 1999 Sierra (same as the silverado) into his 2002 Sierra (identical wiring) and on the new truck I said. "Hmmm why am I using this extra relay to power the other Ignition when it starts fine without it. So I omitted it. Well a few weeks later my brother in law had to get the tranny replaced. Wouldn't shift above 2nd gear. Expensive lesson. Dealer said that the log showed that it started several times but the computer wasn't always recognizing the transmission. (ie. when remote started) He didn't mention the remote starter and luckily the warranty covered the repair. Needless to say I added the relay back in and it has worked fine since.

The funny thing is that i tested all the outputs and they are working fine and the solder joints are perfect. I called astro a million times and they keep saying to change the ing or acc (can't remember which one) to ground when running mode and that should fix it. I tried that and it didn't help much. I sure hope i didn't screw up his transmission haha.
