Security light stays on steady, or is flashing?
www.thirdgen.org and then click on Technial Articles. There's a good description of VATS there?

If you bypassed it properly and it still dosn't work.

Theres issues with your vats module or wiring or pcm.

Unless you can get a schematic and are good with troubleshooting electrical ,

I would take it to somebody who is.

how did you install the resistor? are you using a relay or just jumping the vats wires with the resistor? and what did you use to read the resistance?

A little puncuation goes a long way in trying to figure out what you have going on over there.
But, most VATS issues end up with the security light in the dashboard flashing.
The light is supposed to come on for a few seconds when you turn on the ignition, and then go out.
I've head of the light staying on continuously steady and never going out.....but that seems to be rare.
Are you sure this is a VATS issue?

With the resistor hooked up, does the car start? With the key in the ignition, will the car start if remote started?
