The chart here has provisions for only 4 woofers.  The following diagrams are for 3 woofers.  You can do this for each 3 woofers and then parallel the 2 sets of 3 for a 1.33 Ohm load or a 3 Ohm load.

Option 1 (series/parallel) = 2.67 ohm load
Voice coils wired in series, speakers wired in parallel
Recommended Amplifier: Stable at 2 or 1 ohm mono
6 12s or 6 15s -- posted image.

Option 2 (parallel/series) = 6 ohm load
Voice coils wired in parallel, speakers wired in series
Recommended Amplifier: Stable at 4, 2, or 1 ohm mono
6 12s or 6 15s -- posted image.

So I thank you should go with 4-12's or 4-15's which ever ones or get another amp just like it and strap them together for the 6-12's or 6-15's
Note if you do spl comps I will go with 4 subs unless you intend on being in a high class with the really loud vans/trucks 165db+

I really think he is going to need some different amplifiers if he is looking for 165+

not really i almost hit that with 4-12's and the new pa5500d at 1 ohm
it could happen. I am getting another one and strap them together and run them at 2 ohms. Amp gets a little hot somedays (great amp though)

Come on now!   165db with the mic in the port maybe!       If you doing a 165 on the dash or on the floor period that is enough to win most usaci classes Stock/Pro Stock/ mod ect ect.
Numbers in the port mean nothing.   If I wanted to stick the mic in the port I can do 170+ all day on the term-lab..150+ on the dash sealed for World record runs is a major accomplishment

The mic was on the passenger window (where it is metered) at 51hz tone. Music I hit 157 all day long. I just put this in about 4-5 months ago so I am waiting until next year to beat people. I don't care if you believe me or not I know what I hit on the term lab. I did go to about 6 last year with one re audio 15" xxx and hitting with music 143.9 but with bass tones hitting 151.6db in my van. I am not here to brag about my stuff just here to help people out. If you want to start something go somewhere else

Depends on the speakers but I would go for the 6-15's more surface on the speaker so more air movement.
