No, it just a two speed motor.

It was wired to only run on the slow speed.  I have found a lot of things not wired correctly on this kit car.  The relay that is on it now is a 30, 85, 86, 87.  Based on my limited knowledge of relays, I don't believe this one will work.  I am guessing I need one with the center pin, 87a for the two speed motor.  Is this correct?

I have confirmed that it is a VW wiper motor and I am guessing from the 70's based on comparisons to pictures.  I have looked at the wiring diagrams for VWs and none that I have found had a relay.  They are all wired directly to the switch.

Since I am rewiring this to move the switch to the dash rather than the steering colmun, could I just eliminate the relay and run heavier wire?  If so, what gage wire should I use?

If you all recommend sticking with the relay, please post me a wiring schematic and the type of relay to use.

Thanks for your help.

You will need a Single Pole Double Throw   On-Off-On switch.  Toggle Rocker, or slide, you decide.  Are there wires coming out of the motor, or are there terminals directly mounted to the motor.  If it has wires, you need to use wire at least the size of what is on iit now.  I can't see it pulling more than 10 amps of current.  YOu will need a switch rated at 15 amps or so.  I would run 12 Ga. wire.  Have you verified that the switch is switching positive voltage.

Also have you figured out the high speed wire?   The wiring of the switch will be pretty straight forward.  Center leg of the switch to an ignition power source capable of providing the necessary current.  One outside leg of switch to the low wire.  Other outside leg to the high speed wire.

Let's Go Brandon Brown. Congratulations on your first Xfinity Series Win. LGBFJB
