Crutchfield sells in-door and rear deck polyurethane foam cups for popular driver sizes. I am spoiling to get a set for my 6.5"'s (4x4 Blazer with door speakers set low) and some Dynamat while I got the doors apart. Their current price escapes memory, but a search in their accessories pages will turn them up.

You can find those cups at different stores. The audio shop I bought all my stuff from was out of the 6x9 size but had plenty of 6.5 round.

To answer the battery question; yes it is a plain old lead acid battery that is on parallel with the front battery. I wanted the operating amps and CCA to be close to the front battery the car uses to keep the charging duties even. Power for the amps comes from both batteries. There are photos of the system build in the user galleries forum.

So the battery vents into the trunk...then into the cabin...or did you use some type of vent tube...??
