So.. my trunk rattles waaaaaaay too much, I'm investing in FatMat and some acoustical foam for the openings on the inside of the trunk lid (I work at an autobody shop and this is the stuff they shoot into the panels.. like expanding foam [in theory it is] just not the same as they use for household use) I'm just wondering that since there is so much open area in my rear deck (where my 6x9s are) would it sound better if i sealed the deck somehow? either make a wooden structure underneath or similar?.. or do I just strip it and put fatmat on the metal deck? I'm soon upgrading my subs (probably to a single 15") because the ones i'm using sound good at low volumes, but I want to be heard.. Loud AND Clear.. and seeing as it rattles too much now, I can't imagine what it's going to be like when i upgrade.. and i fear damaging my speakers (Love my kappa's!)  so anyone got any advice? anything at all helps!

If you haven't bought the fatmat yet, I would look into some other type of sound deadening.  Look for something rubber based instead of asphalt.

I have used the fatmat before, it likes to come unstuck and fall off.  Also has the odor of tar or asphalt.  Dynamat is good but expensive.  B-Quiet makes a rubber based deadener.  Also I believe the edead is rubber based.  The edead is made by elemental designs.
