I am looking to build a circuit on a timer to self cancel turn signals after a predetermined amount of time. I would be building this from scratch and would like to keep it simple.
Has anyone done this?
Thanks!

The biggest hurdle I see in "keeping it simple" would be the fact that I assume you would want to use the turn signals to start the process and then have it time out.   This could be an issue because each time the turn signal flashed it could reset the timing circuit, so you would need to use a non resettable timer.  I'm not sure if Velleman or any of the other "kit" companies offer non resettable timers, but that is where I would start.  If you can't find a non resettable timer you can look in to building a cut off to the trigger wire by using the "pulsed to constant" relay found in the relay section of this site.

can use a Counter IC, and even combine it with the timer for a more efficient ckt. Good Luck, sounds like a good idea.

I used distance. Time was irrelevant.
