Im looking to put in a low tone audible beeper on my car as an accessory to the alarm. What i want is to build or buy a low tone beeper that beeps about every 5 seconds to warn people that there is an alarm on the car. The tone should only loud enough to hear if your standing about 6 to 8 feet from the car.

Any help would be appreciated.

Probably not the best idea, You won't like to come back and meet a flat battery now would ya!

You could use a piezo buzzer, but it'd be in the range of 3kHz, not really a low tone. Unless you weren't referring to the pitch.
Very low power draw- you could just connect it across your alarm status LED, since it sounds off from 3V and up.

Too bad we can't figure out how to use one of those smoke alarms that beep when the battery is low.

Maybe run it off of a seperate 6v battery and break the power from it when the alarm is off with a relay???

They cost what $10 ?
