pljx, 2004 saturn ion

Saturn Ion 2004. I want to bypass the car security completely but there is a ground wire on the PLJX that is open when programming then grounded normally by the remote starter for actuating. I grounded it out and the car runs fine but when you shut it off part of the ignition stays on, so I used a relay to ground it out when the key is on. My question is should I have it on this way all the time or should I have it only come on momentarily until the car starts then go off? These cars are known for ignition security problems and the dealer just wants to keep changing the key assembly but they only last a year or so and then in the cold they won't start again. Good old Michigan weather.
