Hi guys,

A friend of mine is interested in getting a hid healight kits for his 2001 silverado. The only thing I need to know is, are there certain brand names I should look at? and are there certains ones I should stay away from? Also is there a trustworhty place I can buy them online?

I have seen the name brand eckomax. Is that good?

I am planning on doing this on my new 2010 explorer sport trac also.

They're all the same ! They're all made in China hids kits -- posted image. Just make sure you get one with a digital ballast.

In China, when you feel uncertail on bulbs, you should ask shoper to test bulbs, only make sure it is ok,then you can take it back home

If your going to do a retro fit do it right and get a set of projectors like these If the HID's do not have the proper "cut off" you will blind on comming drivers and possibly cause an accident. There is also the legal issue of properly aimed headlights. A proper retrofit looks awesome and only takes some added time with a dremel and a rotozip bit (or your tool of choice). Another site to look into for more information is HID Planet.com

Be careful, there are a million knock off companies out there and if u r paying $15 for a set of hid's they probably are not very good, trust me it took almost 40 companies of trying and testing all their products before i found a company that was awesome! now i order between 200 and 1000 kits a month with a 0.02% defective rate, and yes 90% of them are made in China and there still are a few very good companies there.
