cm3300 05 uplander , remote start.

Hi There: I have a quick question if someone can answer for me. I had a cm3300 professionally installed in a leased 05 chevy uplander. When I turned it in I pulled the alarm out it and I bought another 05 uplander with 4x4 and I finally got around to installing it today which actually went quite well. the only wire I am unsure about is the CN2 #6 green wire ignition sensing input. Everything seems to work without this attached. So, what does it do and does it go to a Yellow ignition? Also both vehicles had factory remote start. The installer did not hook it up to the compustar FOB. He said it was easier for me to use the factory FOB.(not) Is it possible to use the compustar FOB to start the vehicle? Thanks Much

The GREEN wire from the CN2 harness is suppose to go to a relay that powers up the 2nd IGN from the van. If you don't power the 2nd IGN you will have some transmission porblems pretty soon. Also, why use the OEM remote with limited range when you have the Compustar remote with great range ?? Weird installer ...........Jeff

Just realised where you are Jeff. What's the weather like?  I do mostly mobile work, never seem to get it right, burned in the summer, frozen in the winter, already got the first head cold. Should do a post on what do we wear for winter. Latitude 51 N, about 1 west of Greenwich.

Well Howie, since you decided to highjack my thread without giving me any advice. I'll give you some in true Canadian style! I install satellites in the great white north of British Columbia a few hours south of Alaska. I tried all sorts of different combination's and found Blue Jeans with a flannel lining keep me nice and toasty without too much bulk. No more long john's for me. I used to wear layer's of upper clothing too, which was restricting. I since have found a canvas style coat with sheep's skin lining and a hoodie which works great. Don't even need a vest anymore. I pick these up from a chain store here called Mark's Work Wear World. I won't shop anywhere else now. Wee bit pricey, but well worth it! Now that I see how easy these alarms are to install, I may just set up a nice warm shop though for the winter! :) Have a pleasant week-end. Peter
