Had a brain teaser yesterday. 96 Camry w/ amplified system. Used the 70-8112 harness to integrate, but the amp popped when turned on. So to solve it, I tried putting resistors in line as usual.
Only problem is I forgot which value to use for it. 96 camry turn on pop -- posted image. 1000 ohm was too much because it didn't turn the amp on, and 560 was the highest I got and it still popped.
Or do you set up a voltage divider network similar to fords?

Did it also pop when you changed radio stations and changed sources?   RCAs or speaker wires?

The 8112 Harness has RCA plug ins. I had to use a Y-RCA connector though to fit into the CD player they choose since it only had 1 RCA pre-out.
At first with just the Remote line hooked up to the amp turn on wire it popped with stations too. But now that I put a resistor in it, it only does it on turn on.
I'm thinking I should try it with a head unit that has 2 sets of RCA's. Some reason I feel that is the problem.

No offense, but I highly doubt that the fuse inside the unit is popped for a new unit.  It was brand new out of the box and I can probably swap the same or different unit in and it will more than likely do the same.  I'm going to try running only 1 set of RCA's for now and see if that works.

you would be surprised to know how easy it is to blow the fuse, at least test it with a meter.  It may save you lots of time.

I'll give it a try and at last chance I will just bypass the amp.

You do know that the plugs to bypass the amp are right there in front of you in the radio cavity right? That car will take a standard toyota harness once you undo those plugs. Very easy car.
