You are to be testing the wires that are in question so you can determine which one is the right wire.  Refer to your notes from tech school.

howie take a break from this thread before you pop a vein from stress ahah.

testing key sense, red probe to constant 12v, black to keysense wire that you will be testing. set the meter to 20vdc. meter will read 0v, and once a key is slightly inserted into the barrel, your meter will now read 11-13vdc

And if that wire does not test that way, check the other wire.

The thing about "tech guides" is that they are just that - guides.  You can NOT rely on them and you MUST VERIFY EVERY WIRE with your volt meter.  Due to different trim levels and many other variables sometimes wires are different colors, or sometimes the information just isn't accurate (or sometimes there are >5 wires of the same color in the same location).  The sheets are something to give you a starting point.  If you don't verify the wiring and hook something up incorrectly you can damage the vehicle or the product (worst case) or the system simply won't work correctly and you'll have no idea where to start troubleshooting because you never verified the wires in the first place.
