whats the best way to restore the shine to plexi. i just got some for free and its pretty oxidized

we have a buffer, what items could i get from wal mart or somewhere like that, that would work good? Im wanting to sandblast etch my name in it too. my dad used to do sandblasting so he has all the tools needed. ill post up some pics, thanks

medium duty compound and some wax or polish should work just fine, just use the buffer @ about 2500 rpm and dont push hard with t,the cutting compound. Then polish with the polish or wax @ about 1500 rpm and youll be fine

Another option is to flame polish the plexi... run a torch a little heavy on the acetalyne, just to when the soke disappears, then quickly "brush" the plexi with the flame. If you don't have a torch around, you can get a MAPP torch kit from your hardware store and use that instead. The key to this is to not let the flame stay in one place too long; always keep it moving.

It's really great when you get to the cut edges especially, because the surface remelts into a rounded edge giving that "custom molded" edge to it rather than the sharp cut edges. My favorite part, no chemicals, no mess, minimal cleanup.
