Here's an easy test, take the positive and negative of the meter and attach one probe to the lock and the other to the unlock, when you arm an disarm yiou should get a positive twelve volt reading one way and a negative twelve volt the other! This way you would be able to tell if the unit is properly outputting!
OK i tried that and got nothing. the only time i get a 12 volt reading is when i have one probe on a 12 volt constant, and the other on the output wire of the unit.

thats what i'm starting to think, is there any way you can think of to make it work with only a neg. pulse.  bought it on amazon.com and would be a hassle to return. it was new though.

Well you can use relays to flip the polarity!

Pin 87 and 86 of both relays fused at five amps

pin 85 of each relay- one to the lock trigger from alarm the other 85 of the second relay to unlock

pin 30 of both relays to the respective unlock and lock trigger wires of the car!

Once the negative outputs are pulsing and not constant you can perform the above!

They did change their units to only do a negative pulse. This is a fact, nothing is wrong with the unit.

When did this change? The convention was neg output, green lock, blue unlock. Pos output, blue lock, green unlock. I always use diodes to condition them because of the stupid OCD ECUs on European cars.
So up yours the Terrible Twins you know who I mean, and one of you, the southerly one, when are you going to work on something else besides Japanese cars!

They changed at the beginning of the year but I've only seen this on 5501s and 5901s so far. I assume the 5301 and 5101s will follow suite if they havent already.

hey t&t, does your shop use DEI stuff only?

btw, the 451m is going to cost you more than buying 2 relays and harnesses.
