Sorry for the repost but I titled it under the model # last time.  I am a retired installer and want to hook up a smartstart on a virper 5501 I just installed ( not enough range).  Do I need a bitwriter, contract or program to finish the install with iphone?.  thanks,  Bob       ( I didnt purchase the smartstart yet )

You need the smartstart module, if the 5501 is compatible. It hooks up via the bitwriter port. And you need a computer with an active internet connection. Also an Iphone with the application downloaded.

Thanks for the info Yimke. Does the computer need to be a laptop or can I do it from a desk pc with internet connection.  I know this is a new product and can find it for around $250. I didnt want to have it installed but wanted to install it myself. I just wanted to make sure activating it would not have been a problem...   thanks
