I just had a Compustar alarm installed in my 2010 Expedition. The truck also has a factory alarm system. So, if the factory alarm is armed and I unlock the door with the compustar remote (which doesn't disarm the factory alarm), the factory alarm goes off. So, to prevent this I have just left the factory alarm unarmed.
Well, this works sometimes.. but for whatever reason, occasionally, the factory alarm gets re-armed, and I would just like to avoid this altogether.
So the installer called up Compustar and was told that in order to disarm the system, he would need to wire up the system to send a pulse the keysense wire on the ignition when aftermarket disarm occurs... and this would disable the factory system.
Is this the only way? Does anyone know if I can pull the factory alarm system out of the vehicle or otherwise disable it (maybe a dealer option?)
Thanks.

In addition to energizing the keysense wire the installer would also have to energize the transponder bypass module too. This is taken from the 2010 Expedition Owner's manual:
Disarming the system
You can disarm the system by any of the following actions:
• Unlock the doors by using the remote entry transmitter portion of
your Integrated Keyhead Transmitter.
• Unlock the doors by using your keyless entry pad.
• Turn ignition to the on position with a valid programmed SecuriLock™
key or Integrated Keyhead Transmitter (IKT).
• Press the panic control on the remote entry transmitter portion of
your IKT. This will only shut off the horn and turn lamps when the
alarm is sounding. The alarm system will still be armed.
• If using a key in the driver’s door to unlock the vehicle, a chime will
sound when you open the door and you will have 12 seconds to
disarm the alarm system using any of the actions above, otherwise the
alarm will trigger.
Pressing the power door unlock control within the 20 second prearmed
mode will return the vehicle to a disarmed state.
The manual does not say anything about being able to turn off the security.
Installer, IT support, and FFL. I need less hobbies.
