Hi
I am installing a viper 5301 in a 2001 Chevy Tahoe and wanted to know if I can get by
Not using a relay on hook ups like the horn honk, factory alarm disarm, and dome light.
These are all (-)200mA from the viper and all the ones I want to tie into on the truck
horn honk, factory alarm disarm, and dome light are (–) is this ok to do on (-) or should I use a relay?
Thanks

you should be okay making direct connections without the use of relays for all 3 you listed.

Viper says to use a relay but i thought since these all (-) that i am connecting to in the truck and the viper output on those wires are (-) that it would be ok?

Thanks

You should be fine, the horn honk might need a relay, but only if it is not working properly. Except one question. Isn't the factory alarm disarm for your vehicle in the door? Or is that 2003+?

It says its in the BCM under driver side dash. If this was a 2003 it would all be thru data bus i wish i had the newer computer!!

Thanks

Listen, you don't need a relay for horn as it runs to a factory horn relay alread. Factroy disram won't need a relay because it is a simple pulse to turn off. The dome light however will require a relay(if you mean dome supervision) as it is high current negative to the light.

OOppss sorry, dome light supervision,  they say in direcwire to use the door trigger for the dome light would this work with out a relay or should i just use a relay and hook into the (-) dome light wire?

Thanks Mike!!

Personally i prefer using the domelight wire itself with a relay.
