ive searched like crazy, but sorry if this is a repeat
i have a Memphis 5 channel amp (16-mch600) and has a sub channel thats 400 watts at 1 ohm. right now i have a 12 in. kicker L5 running the 400 at one ohm. i was wondering if i would get more bass if i switched the L5 out with 4 12in. kicker comps running 100 watts each.

What enclosure will you be putting them in, firstly, and secondly, I can almost guarantee that whichever way you go, you will NOT be able to hear the difference.
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

i was going to do a ported enclosure, i thought it might be louder because it would be more surface area moving. so it would be pointless and i should keep the L5?

i personally like ported better. same amp watt's to more subs usually doesn't give you that much more boom though, less you wire it down in ohm's.

1 Sub in a proper sized box is gonna sound better than 4 subs in a box thats too small. Kicker especially. They Like pretty decent sized boxes, even more so with a ported enclosure. My vote goes to the 1 L5

unless your maxing out the L5... like the amp has more juice and you can't use it. but by the sounds of it you have it set reasonably. I say keep the L5, OR better yet, buy a bigger sub amp or another 400 watter from the same company and one more L5.

why not go with a memphis M3 and stay with the brand your using, or 2 of the power reference series subs

First major build for myself in the process
