I bought this car used, and the previous owner who also bought the car used was never given the remote start key fobs.
It has the antenna by the rearview mirror. The hood pin is currently disconnected and the wire is just hooked on a bolt below it.
Wires go into the firewall and the starter device looks to be there in the steering column area. I need to remove the shroud to confirm.
All that said, once I figure out the model I should be able to find the remotes online for relatively cheap.
Is there anything I can do before I start chuckin cash for remotes to test the unit or am I hooped without the remote?
Thnx,
lbrowne

I thought the brand is Command Start, the sticker under the hood says that. I guess that's just the generic note indicating a rmeote starter is installed.
I'm going to pull the car in tomorrow night once I'm done working on the wife's van. I'll know more then.

Ok this sucker was definitely put in by a professional. I found the toggle on/off switch. Found the ford transponder with the ford key in it.
The remote starter device is tucked way up, and I can't see a brand name or model on it. Just has an embossed oval with what looks to be a lightning bolt in the oval. Gunna be difficult to cut the ziptie to lower it down. Going to be more prying to see what I can do.
From what I can tell, everything is hooked up except for the hood pin. (and that wire is just hanging there, easy to plug in.)

Ok I got everything out - wish I could edit posts instead of doing new replies but here are the marking on the main control unit: There's no brand name stamped on it:
kil 500a7
s011614999
sdrin kgi 7691
270i-C auto trans only
From what I can tell the "Command Start" and symbol on the battery cover match the symbol on the control unit under the dash.

Awesome thanks! PM sent.

So is there anything I cna do to test the unit itself? Without having the hoodpin plugged in I switched the remote starter toggle to off and then back on and there was no blinking of indicator lights or anything.
