I will be doing my own complete stereo install in my 2000 Impala.
I can't find the schematic for the on-board amp. I will be using a aftermarket deck to power the door speakers and tweeters. The rear deck speakers will be removed, since I will be using a large sub box in the trunk.
I just need the break down of the wires behind the deck going to the amp and power wires.
As far as the door chime, I want it gone anyways and I have no issue cutting into the factory harness.
Thank you in advance.
Yay. . . . .

There should be NO cutting...! You can just get a $15 harness...You will lose the chime...(dont forget to turn the headlights off...or keys in the ignition...)

70-2003 is the harness and might need accessory ran from fusebox or ignition harness...(would have to do this regardless)

I have also been told ...Although no personal experience with...That you will have to put the factory radio back in for any diagnostic work...ANOTHER great reason not to cut the harness...Now i have peeled the insulation back about a quarter inch and poked and wrapped on an install or two...Remember if you ARE going to tap/not use an aftermarket harness then leave at least 2-3 inches from the connector to avoid cutting the wire accidently and not be able to reconnect the wire to the connector...!

Also you could just build an enclosure around the rear speakers and leave them there...Some places even offer some solid foam enclosures...Although would recommend wood...!

You can use this wire to add the accessory...It should be visible at the ignition harness when the radio is removed...You insert the key on the dash and not the column...right...

Accessory 1 ORANGE (+) IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS...Also there is usually a brown at the ignition harness...Either would be fine...Both are pretty thick wires...!

And if you are going to use the fuse box...Make sure you use the dead side of the fuse...Otherwise there will be NO protection...! While you are at the ignition harness...Do you have a GPS,Radar,Cell-Phone Charger that you want to hard wire and wont have to use the cig plug anymore...! If so...Cant think of a better time...!

There should be a total of 12 speaker wires, right? Since there is 6 speakers including the 2 tweeters in the doors. Or, are they not powered by the amp?

I think the tweets are connected to the fronts in the door...!
