Vehicle: 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 ST - no factory alarm/immobilizer installed.
Alarm: Commando RS-560
Additions: Installing after market locks with alarm install.
I posted this but it didn't seem to post, so if this is a duplicate post I apologize.
I am installing the above alarm system in my car along with after market locks.
The alarm has a feature that allows you to wire into the ignition so that the car locks when the ignition is turned on and unlocks when it turns off (the car doesn't have factory OEM door locks and so doesn't have the OEM auto lock feature).
I also have the ability to wire a relay to disable the starter when the alarm is set or triggered.
I would like to know if I can wire the lock feature to the Neutral switch instead so that the doors lock when the car is put into drive and unlocks when it is put back in neutral, instead of it working on the ignition?
Also, can I wire the relay into the main ignition power so that it disables the entire ignition system instead of just the starter motor?

On most units(dont know that one)...It is done through the main ignition connection...There is not an extra wire for that feature,but just the ignition input,which HAS to be hooked up...If this has an additional wire for that feature...maybe...YOU usually dont want to mess with ignition kills(what if it fails while driving...ewww...) Some do install that feature...But someone steals your car and 200 feet down the road you kill the engine...He is not that far away...And now he is even more mad(a 2-way with range might be different)...

Ok, I see what you're saying. I just checked the schematic and you're right - there is no separate wire for that feature, so I can't wire into the neutral switch.
And I didn't even think about the potential issues with ignition disabling. I'll stick to the starter bypass instead.

There probably is a way with relays but still on first cup of coffee...I'll leave that one for the more "awake' brains...
