I have just finished installing the python 872 LE, and everything but the actual starting works fine. When attempting to start, I get the error code of 8 flashes(neutral safety wire has no ground). I have checked the wire, and it is indeed grounded and well soldered. Is there anything else that might be causing this error.

Since its a DEI product you need to ground the neutral Safety wire, Make sure the on off switch is plugged in and turned to the ON position, and have the unit programmed for AUTOMATIC for it to work. Some units IE the 5902 come default in Manual mode.

I had the same issue with my Viper 5701. I forgot to plug in that On-Off toggle switch. Once I did that, it fired right up.

So it just needs a jumper between the RS in port and the tach threshold jumper?(I'd assume it to work the same as a switch.

Why wouldn't you use the switch that came with the unit?

Mine did not include a plug on the end of the switch leads(refurb unit). And I'd much rather not solder wires onto the control module connectors.
