I purchased a easy DIY all in one bulldog alarm model 2030 for one of my junk daily driver. The alarm came with a very small red LED that you mount on the dash and it flash when you turn the alarm on. I want to change the light to something more bigger and brighter so I went to autozone and purchased one of those square LED lights that has like 6 LED in one square. I simply cut the wire on the original LED and hardwired the new LED but it does not work. Is there anyway to make this work? I am not really good when it come to this type of stuff but I think it has something to do with the current on the new LED being higher but I might be wrong. So any help would be appreciated.

if it's pulling too much current you could try a relay. 85 and 86 to the old led wires and then 30 to 12v and 87 to the new led power lead.

I really appreciate you trying to help but I have no clue as to what you are talking about. The only thing I know how to do is to install stereos and some car videos but I have no clue what those relays are and where and how it actually go on so if you could elaborate for me in a very easy way I would really appreciate it.

Nope! That relay will be clicking non stop when that alarm is armed or whenever the led blinks, find a suitable match! Or connect the new leds to something else, normally leds from alarms,  work at a lower that staple voltage! Assuming you have two wires on the new one, power and ground, connect the red to constant twelve and the black to an ignition or accesory wire!  That way the led turns on as soon as you turn of the car! It isn't the same, but............................................

"85 and 86 to the old LED wires"

There's 2 wires(black and red), I think 1 is positive and the other one is negative", so which one go to 85 and 86?

"and 87 to the new power lead"

There's also 2 wires on the new bigger LED so once I hook the power wire to 87 then what about  the1 wire left?

Also, what kind of relay do I need? will just any SPDT 12v relay do the trick?

I was thinking of doing that but then the light will just stay on all day and if I was going to do that then I could of just purchased an LED that blinks or scan. So hooking it up to a relay is not a good way to go huh.. because I was sure about to go buy a relay and hook it up. Well.. at least I learned something new.
