2008 Pontiac Grand Prix (w/Monsoon)
I am currently running a Pioneer AVH-3200DVD running through the factory Monsoon amp (brought over my own ignition wire and soldered RCA males to an adapter since the newer Monsoon amps only accept line-level inputs and not amplified.
I am running a Fosgate Punch P300-2 amp and have yet to get a decent SQ out of any of the 12s I have tried (running a single 12" with the amp bridged).
I don't know if it's me being used to hatchbacks and SUVs where the sub wasn't being "blocked" from the interior by seats etc but it doesn't seem to be hitting anywhere near as low and the 80hz and above ranges are distorting.
So considering the Monsoon IIRC is running the mids/highs at 350 watts (give or take), what would you folks recommend on a sub/enclosure style for this trunked system? I primarily listen to rock with the occasional country.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

If your running the OEM amplifier into the speakers or grabbing a signal from the output of the Monsson amp, then that's your problem. Not only is the OEM amp putting out the required power for the system, it's also acting as the crossover for the speakers. Any signal that your getting from the output of the amp is crossed over and reducing your frequency bandwidth to your subs.

I'm running the OEM amp into the speakers but that's not an issue since I am running an aftermarket headunit and grabbing the sub signal from that and not from a line-level converter attached to the speakers.

Sounds like the enclosure is too small. What kind of 12's are you trying to drive with a p3-2?
This is what I do for FUN!

I would have to measure the enclosure but would say it's around 1.25
