I just installed a Clarion Pro Audio Cd Player to my factory 2002 Dodge Durango with the infinity upgrade. I purchase a harness adapter and connected the wires as instructed. I found out that I needed an antenna adapter towards the end of the install so I left it disconnected. When I powered up the radio, i get static in all 4 channels. However when I put a CD in I get about 1 second of music and then nothing????? ALL other aspects of the head unit work properly. Anyone have any clue on what the problem could be???

YOUR ANTENA ACTS AS A SECONDARY GROUND....THE CD PLAYER DRAWS ALOT OF JUICE SO GET AN ANTENNA ADAPTOR AND GROUND STERIO TO CAR.....

Didn't work! I picked up the antenna adapter today, reinstalled everything and still no luck. The ground is grounded properly too????

Any other ideas? Could I possibly be a problem with the HU as well?

Did you power up the OEM amplifier ?

Umm I assume so, the radio works fine. I simply wired the aftermarket harness to the Clarion Harness and then plugged it into the factory plug and the Clarion HU. I had one yellow wire left over with a 3A inline fuse on it labeled "Bus Power Lead" and one brown wire left over that the instructions stated was not used and to tape off! Everything works fine except for the CD Player which only gives me 1 second of sound that nothing????

I believe the "Bus Power Lead" needs to be hooked up to the switched 12v power wire. If I've understood other posts, that lead can be used to power other equipment (RF modulators, satellite radios, possibly factory amplifiers, etc...) See this post for details from esmith69 and wrencher_25.

If you've got the infinity upgrade then chances are you have at least 1 factory amp (since that upgrade is considered one of the Factory Premium Sound Systems). In which case, you will probably need something like this. It is strictly a Factory Amplifier Integration adapter that allows you to adjust the output gains of the aftermarket headunit to match the input gain requirements of the factory amp(s). You'll know if you need one when you turn on the stereo and can barely hear anything, even at normal volume (or the sound is extremely distorted). Had I known about these a few years ago, I could have saved myself some time and hassel!

You could also use something like this or this. Those are "all-in-1" adapters that contain both OEM factory amp integration plus LOC's for additional RCA pre-outs. If your new headunit already has RCA pre-outs, then I'd stick with the 1st one I mentioned (that is of course unless you feel you need more RCA pre-outs!).

Either way, check with a certified installer before you buy anything because I'm not 100% certain if you have a factory amp or not. If you don't, then there's no reason to get the adapter.
