ok, so i got a dual 4 ohm 12 inch kicker L5 and its powered by a 1800Watt quantum audio class d amp. Now i have the sub running a 2ohm load which is 600RMS and i have it to the amp which is 900rms, i turned the gain to half way and my prob is when i turn it up i can smell my sub playing about 3 mins of hard music. how can i fix this besides getting a new sub( i will be soon after i lift my jeep)...My bass on my stereo is at -6. and the box is ported also...it sounds extremely loud but it starts to smell like voice coil burning. Thanx

Until you get a new woofer, wire the 2 voice coils in series.  This will yield an 8 ohm load to your amp.  It will put out less power, but your woofer will be fine.

Enh... it's a Kicker. Smoke it, please! One less Kicker in the world that I have to hear!
Seriously, though. Besides just exercising a litte restraint with your right hand, you can't do ANYTHING other than wiring the voce coils in series for an 8 ohm load to the amplifier, as suggested!
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."
